Discover the Diverse Wildlife of Sanbona Wildlife Reserve
Sanbona, one of South Africa’s largest privately-owned nature reserves, sprawls across 58,000 hectares of protected ecosystems within two biodiversity hotspots. It’s conveniently located in the Little Karoo, a 3.5-hour drive from Cape Town along Route 62. This non-profit-owned reserve places conservation at the forefront, striving to create an authentic and harmonious natural space where critical ecosystems, endangered wildlife, and indigenous flora can thrive for the benefit of future generations.
Nestled among stunning rock formations, Dwyka Tented Lodge offers a secluded atmosphere. The lodge boasts nine luxurious tents, each with a private deck and heated plunge pool, arranged in a horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine. Reflecting the nomadic lifestyle of the Khoisan hunter-gatherers who once inhabited this land, the lodge allows you to immerse yourself in the beauty of this unforgiving landscape.
Situated in a hidden expanse of wilderness, these elegantly appointed tents evoke the spirit of pioneering adventure. With a configuration that allows a maximum of 2 adults per tent, you can choose between king or twin bedded luxury tents for your stay. It’s essential to note that these exceptional accommodations are exclusively reserved for guests aged 16 years and above.
Interactive nature drives last up to 3 hours, conducted during the serene moments of sunrise and sunset. Accompanied by a knowledgeable game ranger in an open game viewing vehicle, you’re encouraged to share your specific interests with the ranger, who will do their best to include them in the drive. The experience also includes sundowner drinks at sunset and coffee/tea at sunrise. Please note that game drives are exclusively for guests aged 4 years and older.
Explore the enchanting landscape of the Little Karoo on foot and uncover the treasures of the reserve. You have the option to arrange a guided walk with a ranger tailored to your preferences. Whether you prefer leisurely strolls to admire the stunning indigenous flora and fauna or challenging trails leading to secluded viewpoints, you can discover the beauty of Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. You can take a gentle walk or embark on a challenging trail that leads to a tranquil rock pool where you can rejuvenate, followed by a return to your lodge for a delectable meal. Sanbona Wildlife Reserve offers all this and more.
